Our priority remains to keep our students and community members safe while striving to create engaging learning opportunities. Although we were not able to actively gather, we wanted to bring seasonal installations to The Gardens for our visitors to enjoy for both the fall and holiday seasons.
Our first big idea was the pumpkin wall! With the help of our campus partners at the Rudder Theater Complex, we designed a reusable frame to assist with programming and installations for many seasons to come. Our team added a variety of gourds and pumpkins to the wall in an effort to both demonstrate the diversity of this seasonal fruit and create a beautiful backdrop for pictures. As a result, we received hundreds of check-ins and tags on social media. We saw so many fun, eventful moments happen in front of that wall…students enjoying it in between classes, young families snagging beautiful holiday pictures, etc.
Our second idea turned our annual Merry & Bright | Maroon & White holiday celebration, from an in-person celebration, into a beautiful, visit-on-your-own-time holiday light celebration! With the generous support of ABC Home & Commercial Services and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences’ Student Council, we have been able to provide everyone a beautiful series of holiday lights, wreaths and even a poinsettia tree that included over 120 poinsettias! ‘Tis the season for ‘twinkle lights’ as our Instagram followers would say!
A huge shoutout to our incredible events duo, Rebecca and Abbey, for all their hard work!
