We have been extremely honored this semester to have our first Aggie ACHIEVE intern, Lexi! With our gardens manager Joseph’s mentoring, Lexi has been helping to tidy our decomposed granite pathways, pick up and rake leaves to keep our grounds tidy, harvest vegetables from our vegetable garden to donate to the Brazos Valley Food Bank, help the grounds crew plant the cool-season vegetables and so much more!
The Aggie ACHIEVE program is a transition program for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities that aims to not only provide an inclusive and immersive college education but also equips students for employment. We have loved having Lexi on our team this semester and we look forward to our future collaborations with Aggie ACHIEVE. We hope Lexi’s time with us inspired a love for the outdoors and maybe even future employment at a botanical garden or nursery!
